Obituary

" This is my story…….."

On February 29, 1944, which was a leap year, a beautiful, precious, bouncing baby girl was born to Elijah L. and Lula M. [Lyday] Watkins at Providence Hospital in Muskogee….to their delight and her big sisters dismay. She was named Marcia Louise, or "Marcy" as she was known by family and friends. She had to have a yearly birthday, so February 28th was chosen for her by her mother to celebrate and share her birthday with her Uncle, Caspar Lyday.

Growing up on Topeka street, she made a lot of friends and unforgettable memories. She attended Wheatley Elementary and Jerusalem schools, Manual Training High School, and graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the Class of 1961 in December. While in high school, she met Robert Williams, and after moving back home to her roots to raise her daughter, Lisa, this relationship was later dissolved.

Marcy entered the work force, as Secretary to Dr. Robert C. Smith. During this time, she met and fell head over heels for Oscar Lee "Lil Mutt" James, Jr., with her in the seventh month of pregnancy. "Lil Mutt" passed away two months before their handsome son was born. She named him Kevin Lee.

Marcy knew her work wasn't done. She continued working for Dr. Smith, then worked at D.B. & O. Institute in Taft, Oklahoma, where she made many long lasting friendships with co-workers.

In 1971, she and her children moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to be with her oldest sister at which time, she went back into the Medical Field at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she received numerous certificates and friends.

In 1973, she met and married Donald McClarty. They made their home in Milwaukee, until a Military Man had to return to duty to Korea, Vietnam and lastly, Fort Hood, Texsas before finally moving their family to Muskogee in 1974. Donald and Marcy welcomed home Marcus Brent, striving and wanting more for her family, she attended Concordia College in Milwaukee, then Connors State College, graduating in 1991 with A.S.A. in Aging.

Marcy worked at Muskogee Regional Medical Center for over 10 years as Unit Clerk on the Surgical floor, until her health began to fail, but this never stopped her from loving the Lord and wanting more for her family. She attended numerous churches, until she found her church home and family at Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In her 72nd year, Marcia Louise McClarty "took flight with Angels to thine place of rest" on Friday, June 17, 2016. Her wings were ready but our hearts were not. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and two children.
