IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcus Lee
Whitaker
November 26, 1948 – December 13, 2021
On the 26th day of November in the year of nineteen forty-six, Marcus was birthed into this world by his mother. The son of Marvin and Christine Whitaker soon became the apple of their eyes and joy within their hearts, since his older brother (Niel) only lived two weeks after he was born.
Marcus was gentle natured; he wasn't easily riled. Marcus had a nonchalant attitude about many things and especially if they had nothing to do with him. He was a caring and respectful person with many friends he enjoyed being around.
Marcus's formal education was completed through the institutions of Dunbar Elementary School, Sadler Junior High School and Manual Training High School. He was an average to above average student (When he wanted to be). Marcus excelled in sports, achieving All-Conference Honors in both football and basketball his junior and senior years at Manual Training High School. He had a love for Auto- Mechanics and he loved to fish. In his spare time he could be found on the banks.
Marcus was married twice. To his union with Patrice, a daughter (Collette) was born. Some years later he married Carole Sue Gray, and no children were born of this union.
While living in Muskogee he was employed by Cole Grain Co. and by the Muskogee Public School System. In 1999, Marcus moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he was employed as an Apartment Manager and later as a Sales Clerk for Dollar General Inc. Prior to moving to Kansas City, Missouri in the latter years of his life he accepted Christ becoming a born again believer.
Mr. Marcus Lee Whitaker, in his 73rd season of life, was called to be with the Lord on Monday, December 13, 2021 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Preceding Marcus in death: His parents (Marvin and Christine Whitaker); grandparents, (Alex and Edessie Crowley); and nephew (John Morris).
Marcus leaves to cherish his memories: his only son Brenton (Elizabeth) Duncan; three grandsons, Braylen Elijah Duncan (21), Bryce Eilam Duncan (17) and Brevyn Emyr Duncan (14); three brothers, Richard Whitaker of Palm Beach, Florida, Henry (Sandra) Whitaker and Donald Whitaker; three sisters, Rose Whitaker, Barbara Whitaker and Deborah Whitaker; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
