Obituary

Margaret Ann Long - Henderson, 75 of Tulsa Oklahoma transitioned to life eternal on Friday May 17, 2019 after bravely battling a lengthy illness.

Margaret was born to the late Littleton and Evelyn Long on June 17 th 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The oldest of two children, Margaret attended Carver middle school and graduated from Tulsa's own Booker T. Washington High School in the class of 1961.

Margaret married Norman Wayne Henderson on February 19, 1964 and in their union four sons were raised.  Gerry, Dwayne, James and Chris were brought up in a loving home with a great emphasis on God, family, and service to others. Her beloved husband proceeded her in death on September 30 th , 1992.

Margaret had a zest for life, an infectious smile, and an uncompromising love for people! She never met a stranger, and loved her family endlessly. Margaret accepted the Lord as her personal savior as a young adult, and loved working in the church.  As a child, she loved music and this love transitioned into her life's work in the church. She could always be found praising God as praise and worship was her favorite activity of the day.  Margaret's favorite song, "I've got Jesus and that's enough," was shared with everyone she encountered!

Margaret like her mother Evelyn, had a host of young folks that called her "Mama" or "Mama Henderson", and she claimed every one of them! Margaret occasionally worked outside of the home; however, she spent the majority of her life doing the most important work of being a house wife, raising her four sons, and the multiple family members who lived with her family through the years. "Mama Henderson" loved everyone and she would turn no one away. Margaret was active in her husband's ministry and in pastoring until his death. In the twilight of her own life she cherished her friendships, worked to build relationships both with fellow residents at the Tulsa Nursing Center, the South Tulsa Fresenius center, and the medical professionals that were trusted with her care. Margaret left a footprint of love on each relationship she forged.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved brother Kenneth "KC" Long (Tulsa), her four sons; Gerry Walker, Dwayne Henderson (CoJuan), James Marvin Henderson (Tamika), of Tulsa and Chris Thompson, of Oklahoma City. Her grandchildren; Mahogany, Ashton, Daylon, Erica, Charity, Jamaya, Christopher, Alicia, Jonathan, Brandon, Trey, Trinity, Teri, Christy, Tristan, and J'Mani three nieces; Jailicia, Maria and Claudia, seven great grandchildren, (and so many others that were considered children and grandchildren), and a host of other family and friends.
