Obituary

Born to Annie Elizabeth Lenora Knots-Jenkins and John George Jenkins on March 6, 1923, Margaret Jenkins was raised in her hometown of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. Margaret entered into Rest on October 17, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Preston Lurks, and seven brothers. She leaves behind her eleven children: Mary Ann Bunkley, Joseph Porter Whitelaw (Shirley), Nona Marzett (Freeman), Donald Craven, Preston Lurks, Jr., Hattie Lurks, Rose Mary Robinson, Ambrose Lurks (Patricia), John Lurks, Lamar Lurks, and James Lurks, and two sisters: Rose Mary Jackson, and Doris Jeffries. She truly cherished her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and truly loved them all, including Autumn, the last of many children raised by Sister Margaret Lurks.

Services for Sister Lurks will be Friday October 21, 2009 at 11AM inside the Chapel of Remembrance at Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors at 549 South 6th Street in Muskogee. Burial will follow at The National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
