Obituary

On Tuesday, June 16th 2015 God picked another flower from His garden to transplant in Heaven…Margaret Jean McFrazier.

Margaret Jean McFrazier was born on January 24th, 1952 to Rev. Thomas and Kathryn (Breedlove) McFrazier in Muskogee, Oklahoma and was the 8th of 9 children born to this union.

She expressed a love for Christ at a young age and was very active in her father's church. At Macedonia Baptist Church, Margaret served as the choir director for many years as well as other positions within the ministry. Ms. Mac, as she was known to so many loved to sing. One of her favorite songs "Changed" was her signature song and she sang it often too help minister to others the love of Christ. She was very gifted in this area and used her voice to help minster to people through songs. Margaret enjoyed this and sang often to her grandchildren, and little cousin's.

Margaret Jean attended Wheatley Elementary School, where she gained a love for knowledge, as well as the Historic Manual Training High School, where she graduated with the class of 1970. Upon graduating from Manual, Margaret attended the historic HBCU, Langston University where she majored in Education and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

After completion of her degree at LU, Margaret returned to Muskogee, where she began her career as an educator. With this career she worked for DuBois in Summit, Oklahoma and later transferred to Muskogee School district where she taught at Pershing and later Cherokee Elementary until her retirement due to health in 2004. Margaret was a well-known educator who did not play when it came to her classroom and learning. Very strict and stern with the children, she taught to make sure they all received their lesson and was able to carry what she taught them as they went through life.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister's Claudette and Kathy and her brother Tommy (Leo) McFrazier.

She is survived by her children, Michael McFrazier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Makia McFrazier, Tulsa; and Kenric (Antoinette) Mcfrazier of Muskogee. Her siblings, Robert (Betty) of Topeka, Kansas; Calvin of Lawton; Arnelious of Tulsa; Marilyn Jordan of Olney, Maryland, and Carolyn McFrazier of Dallas, Texas. Her grandchildren, Brianna, Brasha, Brittni and Bradon Shine; Kenic McFraizer; Kaylee Clark; J'Mari and Jayden Davis; K'lyn and Kryan McFrazier; Courtnei Lewis all of Muskogee and ; MaKylah McFraizer, Oklahoma City. Three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special children who called her "momma".

The Hour of Remembrance will be shared on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Larry H. Smith, Sr., is the Pastor and Rev. Michael Brackeen will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
