IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margarite Ruth
Colquitt
July 29, 1952 – July 9, 2023
Margarite Ruth Colquitt was born on July 29, 1952, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to the late Lillie Mae White. She "dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal rest" on Sunday morning, July 9, 2023, surrounded with the devoted love and peace of her family.
At an early age, Margarite accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior under the late Reverend J. Strawther. Margarite grew up in Louisiana and then moved to Oklahoma. She was employed at Southern Hills for many years as a Home Health caregiver. In 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer but that did not stop her from living her life to the fullest. She truly admired her family, and she was always full of joy and laughter. Some of her favorite phrases were, "I ain't trippin','' and "You sho' right."
Margarite had two beautiful girls, the late Kendra White and Angela Colquitt, whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie; sisters, Deborah Cooper, Tina Jackson, Margarite Jackson, and Maple Jackson; and brother,
Peter McHenry.
Margarite leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter, Angela (Richard); her son, Howard; granddaughters, Katisha Powell (Corbit) and Robin Paschal; great-granddaughters, Kendra'Ona Thorpe and Ki'Niya Powell, and great-grandson, Kah'meron Powell, who were the joy of her life; lastly, her great-great -granddaughter, Nova; siblings, James Mchenry (Linda) of OKC, Rose Thompson (Robert) of Lousiana, Patricia Mchenry of Texas, Lizzie Jackson of Texas, Sharon Jackson (Gregory) of Oklahoma, Hazel Jackson of Oklahoma, and Olivia Jackson of Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
