On May 28, 1943 in Conway, Arkansas one of Gods most precious jewels was entrusted to the care of Fred & Gladys (Gilkey) Norman and named Marie. Shortly after birth Fred, Gladys, Alonzo (brother) and beautiful baby Marie relocated to Muskogee, Oklahoma. Where at a tender young age Marie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. C.A. Perry.
In the fall of 1948 Marie attended Douglas Elementary where she would build some lasting Friendships with her classmates at Douglas. She went on to attend and graduate from Manual Training High School and was a proud "Bulldog". Later in life Marie re-entered the educational system where she became a certified Graphic Artist.
With a humble spirit and a servants heart Marie devoted her life to the service of the kingdom as the church clerk at the Morning Star Baptist Church under Rev Alton Bryant. She also was given the gift of song and she would use her melodious voice anytime she was called upon. Marie served faithfully there in any capacity she could under the leaders thereafter until Morning Star closed its doors. Marie then united with the St. Mark Baptist Church and enjoyed fellowship there until her health would no longer allow her to attend services.
Marie made friends everywhere she went. Even when working at Corning Glass, she made lifetime friendships that will always be remembered while lighting up the workplace with her smile bringing life and joy to every room.
On August 30th, 2010 the heavenly choir rejoiced as God reclaimed one of his most precious jewels from her time of pain and suffering here on earth. Preceeding Marie to her heavenly home, were both parents Fred and Gladys and her brother Alonzo Norman. Left to cherish her loving memory are her two daughters Michelle Myers – Arlington, TX; Phelecia Kirby (Antonio) – Baton Rouge, LA; one sister Mary Frances Cooper (Willie) – Muskogee, OK; four grandchildren Rogerick, Felice, Chelise and Gabrielle; two nieces Andrea Henry (Sabron) – Newport News, VA, Lesley Harris – Muskogee, OK; Seven great nieces and nephews; Special Friends John Harris, Pauline and Rudolph Cotton and Naomi Oakley, Shirley Nesbitt and a host of family and friends.
