To Everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1

A time to be born...
Unto us a child is born! Marion Elaine Stokes was born on September 13, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James B. and Willie E. Ceasar Stokes. Elaine was the 16th child born to their loving union.

A time to live...
At an early age, she professed her life in Christ, uniting with, and baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Elaine attended Charles S. Johnson Elementary School, Marion Anderson Junior High School, attended, the historic Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, and proudly graduating with honors in Palo Alto, California with the class of 1969. Upon graduation, she returned to Tulsa, where she met and married Leon Hill. This union later dissolved. She would go on to meet a special friend, and "love of her life," Robert Louis Johnson, whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and ten of her siblings: twins Elmer, and Thelma, Norman Lee, Layla Mae, Henry, Marshan Jones, James Jr., Arnett, Sandra, Jeanie Herron.

A time to die...
On June 24, 2011 Elaine took her last breath, on this side of Heaven, surrounded by family in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The lives of many were touched through her love, especially for the little ones, compassion and generosity, that she shared freely with everyone. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sisters: Frances Ware, Patricia Herron (Troy), sister in-law, Donna Stokes, brothers: Leonard Stokes (Joyce), Lawrence Stokes (Edna), and brother in-law, Claude Herron, along with a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday July 1, 2011 at Agape Outreach Ministries in Tulsa.
