Obituary

On January 12, 1957, a beautiful eight-pound baby boy with green eyes was born to Gladys Reed in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, who she named Marlon Vernell. Marlon and his mother lived with her parents southeast of Okmulgee. Marlon loved and was loved by his grandparents. He and his mother spent hours discussing their common love of country life.

When Gladys married Earlie McFalls, Sr., this union brought forth three siblings for Marlon, Ariel, Steve, and Earlie Jr. As a child, Marlon spent lots of time playing with his siblings and cousins. It was such a delight to watch the family ties being created within this generation. Marlon attended school in Okmulgee, graduating from Okmulgee High School in the class of 1975.

In 1975, Marlon and Scherryl Ann Jones "Bonnie" had a son and they named him Marlon Jr., or "Marjo." Later in life, Marlon gained five more children through his marriage to Carolyn Johnson, Nakia, Sherita, Lemuel, Desmon, and the one who stole his heart, Wykeyma, his baby girl.

Marlon worked for Harlan Ford for many years until he retired. Marlon was a family man who loved to fish. He would take his kids out to the lake, and they would fish and swim for hours. During the last ten years, Marlon lived with his daughter, Wykeyma, and family. He was an asset to our family. He showed us how much he loved us through his cooking. His contribution to the family will forever be remembered—through his ability to cook up incredible cuisine. Marlon shared his time with his granddaughter Micah by teaching her to prepare her favorite dishes from scratch.

Marlon was an amazing father and provider to his kids. The things Marlon did for people in this life, he did with his wholeheartedly and he loved people. Marlon was a quiet man with a big heart. His heart was filled with love for everyone. He never harbored resentment. This enabled, many people, to call him friend. Marlon was loved by family and friends. His children want the world to know, "He was absolutely the best Dad a Son or Daughter could ever ask for." Thank you, Lord, for giving us such an amazing gift, of calling him "Dad".
