Ms. Martha Susan Brown, after 50 years, passed from life to everlasting on Monday morning, March 14, 2011 from Muskogee.

Martha was born in Van Buren, Arkansas, the daughter of Virgil Lee and Anna Lorene [Fletcher] Melton on December 24, 1960.

She moved to Oklahoma at a very young age and attended Muskogee Public Schools.

A loving mother, grandmother, and aunt [who raised most of her nieces and nephews], Sister Brown possessed a beautiful singing voice, even singing professionally for some time who will be missed by all who knew her.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Darrell Melton, Roger Dale Melton and Tommy Joe Melton.


Mrs. Brown leaves behind to lament her death; her daughter, Karen Swenson, Coweta, OK; 3 grandchildren, Trenton Morris, Madison Morris and Justice Swenson; her life partner, Jerry Madewell, Muskogee, OK; 2 brothers, Walter Fletcher, Muskogee and Darwin Melton & wife Judy McHorn; a sister, Ruth Jenkins, Okay, OK; along with a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.


Her final farewell will be rendered at a Graveside Ceremony on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Three Rivers Cemetery at Okay, Oklahoma. Reverend Guy Parish, Pastor of Church Central, will officiate.

You may visit Martha as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Wednesday from 10 AM until 7 PM and on Thursday from 10 AM until 12 Noon.
