MARY ANN (ALLEN) DILLINGHAM
Mary Ann (Allen) Dillingham was born in Wagoner, OK on September 3, 1939 to Johnie and Carrie (Booker) Allen. Mary Ann was the second child of three children. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mary Ann attended the Muskogee school system and graduated from Manual Training High school in 1958. She furthered her education at Bacone College. There she received her degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse and worked at Muskogee General Hospital.
Earlier in life, she married her high school sweetheart, William Hooks, Jr. To that union, three children were born, Terry, Karen and William III. This union was later dissolved.
Mary Ann relocated to Omaha, Nebraska. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Douglas Hospital for several years. She returned to school, attending The University of Nebraska where she received her Bachelor's degree of science and furthered her education to become a Physician Assistant. In 1977 she was awarded a position as a Physician Assistant at the Washington University Lipid Research Center in St. Louis, Missouri which she loved and remained at her position until she retired.
Mary Ann loved to travel and always made the trip back home to Muskogee and was a strong believer and leader in family and keeping the legacy alive.
She was a member of the St. Louis County Election Board and an active member in her community.
She enjoyed baking her famous Rum cake for everyone, writing poetry, reading, playing phase 10 with her sister, joking with her granddaughters and talking to her nephew Darren. Let's not forget watching her favorite shows "Gunsmoke and Scandal".
On March 15, 2022, Mary Ann departed this world peacefully surrounded by her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Terry Lynn (Ronnie) Walker, Karen Perry and son William (Clara) Hooks III; grandchildren, Shawn, Taylore, RiKayla, Renisha, Saton; sisters, Bettye Tucker, Patsy (Eugene) Pettis and brother Leon Allen; five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The Sacred Farewell for Mary Ann will commence on Friday Afternoon, March 25, 2022 at High Noon at the Harmony Hall located at 206 S. 7th Street in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Burial will immediately follow the services in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
