On February 27, 1926, a bundle of joy was delivered to Leonard Bolden and Jeanette Green Bolden in Kansas City, Missouri. They named this bundle of joy, Mary Alice Bolden. Mary Alice Bolden Brown and Dortha Jean Bolden were the only two children born to this union; however, Mr. Bolden was the father of sixteen additional children born to him and his first wife.
Mary Alice accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Central Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. She was raised in Muskogee, and attended public schools there, culminating with her graduation from the historic Manual Training High School with the class of 1944. After graduating, she moved to Tulsa where she met Mr. Willie Brown. They married on July 29, 1946 in Independence, Kansas. To this union, one child was born, Ingrid Janiece.
Mrs. Brown worked in many capacities. All mostly having to do with public service. She worked as a store manager for many years and her last employment was as a receptionist with Bruce Bell Accounting.
Although Mrs. Brown always worked outside of the home, her passion and commitment as always to her family. She attended all of her younger sister's births. She also cared for each of her siblings during mental illnesses in addition to being a model wife and supportive mother. She was very involved in the rearing of her only grandchild, Shannon.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, all of her siblings, and several nieces and nephews. She leaves to cherish her precious memories; 1 daughter; Ingrid, 1 grandson; Shannon, 1 sister-in-law; Mable, and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as 1 very special cousin, Nola Jean Fullbright.
Services for Mrs. Brown will be Friday at 1 PM at The All Faith's Chapel in Tulsa. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 Noon until 7 PM at the funeral home.
