In Johnstown, Pennsylvania, John and Mary Custer were blessed with a baby girl on March 8, 1915. They named her Mary Magdalene.
Mary attended school in Pennsylvania. Later in life, she moved to Oklahoma and lived here for the better part of her life. She did live in Michigan and California briefly, but returned to Oklahoma.
She was married to Richard S. Hill, who preceded her in death in 1971. Mary was a housewife and dear mother, fondly remembered for her smile. She loved crafts, spending time with her family, especially her daughters, and of course, shopping.
In Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mary M. Hill, after 93 seasons, closed her eyes on this side, but woke up on the other side on Friday morning, April 4, 2008 from Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son at birth, a daughter, Kathleen, and a sister Ruby Allen Wood.
She leaves to lament her passing, but yet cherish fond memories; her daughters, Rose Deault, Lincoln Park, Michigan, Harriett Webber, Muskogee, Mary B. Hill, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Theresa Crawford, Romulus, Michigan and Shirley [Wayne] Weston, Harrah, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a caravan of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The Final Tribute for Mother Hill will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Central Freewill Baptist Church. Pastor Les Long will officiate. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.
You may visit Mrs. Hill, as she slumbers at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Monday from 10 AM to 7 PM.
