The book of life on Mary Ann Jewell was opened on September 28, 1951 in Malvern, Arkansas. Mary Ann was the daughter of William Allen Haynes, Sr., and Edna [Bailey] Haynes. She grew up in Muskogee and attended school here. She met Sherman Jewell at the old Roxy Theater one day and after courtship, they were married on November 4, 1966. She spent 36 years in California before returning to Muskogee recently. She worked as a full charge bookkeeper. With the final chapter completed, the book of life for Mary Ann was closed on Monday morning, October 31, 2005 in the comfortable surroundings of her home, with her loving family near her side. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Sherman Jewell, Sr.; her children, Sherman II, Angela, Pamela and Amber; a special nephew, Collin Jewell, Sr.; a brother, William A. Haynes, Jr.; 3 sisters, Sandra Foreman, Carrie Brogdon and Bonnie Sides; along with other relatives and friends. The final farewell will be on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee. Minister Robert Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is on Thursday from 12 Noon until 5 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM at the funeral home.
