On May 28th, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, a baby girl was born to Lucious DeBouse and Bernice Jones. She was given the name Mary Blanche.
At the age of 6 months, Mary came to Rentiesville, Oklahoma to live with her grandmother. At the impressionable age of 12 years old, Mary confessed a hope in Christ and joined the First Baptist Church of Rentiesville. Her schooling consisted of education in the Rentiesville schools, where she graduated with the Class of 1955. Mary then attended Langston University for one year.
On January 11, 1957, Mary married her High School Sweetheart, Harold Martin, Jr., and they made their home in Rentiesville. Their loving union was blessed with 4 sons. She helped to provide for her family through her employment as Secretary of Rentiesville School. She was also the Secretary for Checotah Public Schools, from where she retired in 2008.
Mary was an all around person. She served in many capacities in her church. She was a pianist from the age of 13, up until her health began to fail, served as church treasurer, as well as the Mission President. She loved the Lord and she loved her Church, evident through her faithful service to God.
On Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016, Mary Blanche Martin, in her 78th year, transferred membership from First Baptist Church to "Church Triumphant." She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, and her parents.
