Mrs. Mary Frances McCown, after "Four-Score Years," left this life for a life eternal on Thursday morning, February 4, 2021 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mrs. McCown will be placed in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery following cremation.  A Memorial Ceremony will be held later in the Spring.

Mary Frances McCown 80, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday February 4th, 2021 after a brief battle with the coronavirus, COVID-19.

Frances was born on August 2nd, 1940 to Ray and Mary Stow in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was the second oldest of 5 children.

In 1955, she met Cecil Leslie Genn Sr., and they wed November 18th of that year, going on to have 4 children; Jenny Sue (Susie), Cecil Leslie Jr. (Les), Karen Frances, Donna Lynne, and adopting son Stacy in 1968. Frances and Cecil divorced in 1969.

While working as a police dispatcher in California Frances met James Royce McCown. They wed on December 10th 1970 and were married for 44 years before Jim's passing in 2014.

Frances lived a long and storied life between Oklahoma and California, and back again. She was a central figure in her family. Birthdays, holidays, and most family gatherings were held at her home in Muskogee. Aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, grandkids and great grandkids would all gather at her house to hunt Easter eggs or count out their pieces of Halloween candy. Christmas would end at her house with the kids and grandkids unwrapping their presents by the tree. The adults played board games, traded white elephant gifts, and bragged about Christmas dinner. Her passing takes a little bit of family tradition with her that will be fiercely missed, and that she carried proudly.

Frances enjoyed watching tennis, loved watching her game shows, enjoyed her fish tank, and loved her dogs. In her later years Frances had the calling to foster children. She was a strong woman who enjoyed a simple life and brought family together.

Frances was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Mary Stow, her siblings Nancy Lang, Margret Shippman, and Sonny Stow, husband Jim McCown, daughter Karen Genn, and great grandchildren Michael Genn and Zach Griffis. Frances is survived by her sister Pearl Hagen, children Suzie Aaron, Les Genn and spouse Tammy, Donna Johnston and spouse Davey, and Stacey Genn-Wood, 12 grandchildren, over 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandkids, and her "granddog, Bentley". She is missed from the bottom of our hearts.
