Obituary

With profound love and heavy hearts, we commemorate the life of Mary Catherine Irvin-Patterson, who peacefully passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born on May 31, 1954, in Highland, Kansas, Mary lived a life distinguished by love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a woman whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and wisdom to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where family gathered, stories were shared, and love was ever present.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who cherished her family above all else. She found great joy in watching the Chiefs play, preparing home-cooked meals, tending to her garden, attending church, enjoying music, caring for others, and seeking out a good bargain. She possessed a rare gift for making each person feel valued and deeply loved.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast faith, sense of humor, resilience, generosity, and wisdom, as well as her candid and genuine nature. Through her faith and the love she so freely shared, she exemplified a life of service and compassion. We take comfort in the promise of Scripture:“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23

Mary is lovingly survived by her daughter, Danna Green; her grandchildren, DeShaun Claitt, Deion Claitt, D’Ajanae Claitt, and Malik Green; and her great-grandchildren, Jax, Haizley, Ryah, and Nehemiah. She is also survived by her siblings, Marvin Irvin, Linda Dydell, and Roger Irvin, along with many other cherished relatives and dear friends who will continue to honor her legacy by carrying forward the love and values she instilled in them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Irvin and Dorothy (Stillman) Irvin; her daughters, Amy and Valarie; and her siblings, Cheryl Hopkins, Esther Ginn, Doyle Irvin, Keith Irvin, and Richard Irvin.

A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at a later date and time. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest beside her beloved daughter at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Though our hearts mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her love endures. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will forever remain in our hearts.
