Mary M. Pointer, 68, returned to her heavenly home on May 19, 2015. Her devotion to her family and her firm faith in God supported her in a long fight after a massive stroke in 1995.
Mary was born to the late Albert and Esther Bomer, of Detroit, Michigan on August 30, 1946. She was immersed in the Christian faith after the loss of her 3 children who died in a house fire. That would be her lifelong support as she began her Christian walk of faith. She was an avid teacher of the Bible and taught all who met her "The Law of good ole' common sense." Mary began her early years in healthcare and would often talk about her dream and desire to be a nurse.
However God put His hand on her for something just as special. She dedicated herself to her children and the work of faith and labor of love. Mary was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Edward Louis Pointer, on April 12, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan. Mary was a full time mother to her five children with faith, discipline, patience (at times), and humor. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore God for themselves. Mary is an example of having lost all to still trust God. She taught them all as well how to trust God.
Mary was an educator at heart. She was known for her wisdom and her unwavering faith. She laughed often, and ultimately learned that laughter was good medicine. She was "down to earth" spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She ultimately fulfilled her calling because she "nursed" so many broken hearts back to life. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with God her Heavenly Father.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Louis Pointer; her children, Linda Pointer, Angela Pointer, Louis Pointer an Marie Pointer, her brothers Albert Bomer, Lindell Bomer and Johnny Bomer, her parents Albert and Esther Bomer and many more loved ones, including those she called family.
Mary is survived by her daughters Pauline Pointer and Beatrice Jones, her sons Lindell and Jamon Pointer; 13 grandchildren Louis Poole, Brittany Morrow, Greg Jones, Jr., Lindell Pointer II., Bryan Morrow, II, Arianna Pointer, Ariel Pointer, Shamar Morrow, Jamon Pointer, Jr., Kinadee Jones, Edward Pointer, Javen D. Pointer, Caleb Jones and great-grand daughter Amari Jenkins and was looking forward to seeing her first great grand-son Armani, her daughter in-law Diane Ivey, and son in-laws Bryan Morrow, I. and Troy Jones.
