Obituary

On October 10, 1932, a baby girl was born to Azalee and Walther Stanford in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was the first of seven children born from this union. They named her Mary Alice, but she was affectionately called Mae by all that knew her.

Mae confessed Christ at an early age. She professed her belief in Jesus Christ and joined Caanon Baptist Church in Reeves Addition of Muskogee. She would later unite with Macedonia Baptist Church, where she was a faithful servant and member. Mae was faithful in her attendance and participation, where She was active serving as Sunday School Superintendent, General Mission and Circle Number Four.

She met Rudolph Pierce, Sr., and from this union one son was born Rudolph Pierce Jr.

Mae was very dainty woman. She took pride in how she looked, maintained her home, her job and how she treated others. She was a meticulous housekeeper and loved to keep her yard nice. You could find her out there often planting flowers and weeding her flower bed. Mae also loved crafts. She was an excellent at sewing, knitting sweaters, and dish towels were her favorite. She even tried her hand at pottery and excelled. She was an excellent cook, avid baker and made one of the best 7up pound cakes. Her attention to detail was her defining trait.

She later met and married Sherman Wallace, and from this union, one son was born. Micheal Pierce.

Mae was also a very hard worker. She worked at Modern Book Binding Company until changing jobs, were she would become Supervisor at Coburn Optical until her retirement.

After retirement, she remained active until her health began to fail. Early Saturday morning, September 12, 2020, Mae was called from labor to reward. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Walter and Azalee Bess, three sisters, Dorothy Dedmon, Maxine Norwood, and Vacie Chatman, along with two Brothers, George and Nathaniel Stanford.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two sons, Rudolph Pierce Jr., and Michael Pierce(Aretha), both of Muskogee; One brother, Sammie Stanford (Margo); her Grandchildren, Aldrayko Lyday, Michelle Mahone, Melodie Lyday & Ronda Lyday; And a very special great-grandson, Demetrius Mayhue, who showered her with love and affection; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and f friends.

Her sacred farewell will commence on Friday morning, September 18, 2020 at 9:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Macedonia Baptist Church, 418 West Shawnee Avenue.  Reverend Larry H. Smith, Sr., Pastor, will Preside.  Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
