Matias Montoya was born in Pozo Bendito, Rayon S.L.P Mexico on May 22, 1959, the son of Secudino and Juana Montoya.
When he was a young teenage, he wanted to discover the American Dream and immigrated to the United States. He began working on ranches to provide for his family back home. Later, he landed a job at the Boral Brick Company as a forklift operator in 1978.
He met the love of his life, Emma in El Reno, Oklahoma, and they were married in 1980. He began his family in 1981 and during this time, he began the process of becoming a legal Resident of the United States, which they accomplished together in 1982. Matias was blessed with three lovely daughters and eventually his job relocated him and he moved his family to the Muskogee, Oklahoma area. He retired from Boral Brick after 32 dedicated, hard working years of service. He remained living in Muskogee the rest of his life.
He loved visiting his family in Mexico faithfully every year. He never forgot his roots. Mr. Montoya lived an active life. He played recreational baseball, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and working. He especially adored his grandchildren.
On Thursday evening, March 3, 2022, Matias Montoya passed away, with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Secundio Montoya and his brothers, Vale and Antonio Montoya.
He leaves in God's care; his loving wife, Emma Montoya, of the home in Muskogee; his mother, Juana Montoya; his daughters, Griselda, Ana and Bianca Montoya; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters; 2 brothers; 4 sons-in-law; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends who will miss his presence.
You may visit him, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday,1:00 PM in the most holy sanctuary of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Christian Committal and Burial will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee.
