Obituary

A handsome baby boy, Matthew Thompson, affectionately known as "Big Baby" was born in Jackson, Tennessee on November 19, 1975, the first of nine perfect gifts given by God to Leroy and Gail Doris Neale Thompson.
Matthew grew up in church, gave his heart to God and was baptized at an early age. He enjoyed playing the drums during church services. Summers spent with his favorite paternal grandmother, Thelma Rogers and family in Jackson, Tennessee were some of his priceless memories.
Matthew graduated with the class of 1994 from Muskogee High School and he also attended Connors State College during this time "BigBaby" was created.
Big Baby was a giant teddy bear and THE LIFE of every party, celebration or "get together" and when you heard "ALLLREADY!" or "What's up kinpeezy?", he was present. He gave the best big hugs, had kisses for the ladies and a distinctive handshake with the guys. When BigBaby would get so fresh and cleanly dressed in the latest attire he would often say he was going to go "float the boat." He had a gift of memory and could vividly reminiscence childhood memories and other moments that would have everyone laughing so hard, we would be in tears. His laugh was contagious and if he started laughing, it was over.  He loved traveling and was a food connoisseur. Family time was special to BigBaby.
Big Baby was an awesome chef. A Mexican Fiesta, homemade peach cobbler and chocolate cake were some of his famous dishes.  He was also a commercial driver and was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his health started failing.
Big Baby transitioned to Heaven on Thursday morning, June 4, 2020 and is resting with his eternal father. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gail Doris Neale Thompson, brother James Gabriel Thompson, nephew, Tylan Lee, paternal grandmother, Thelma Rogers, maternal grandmother, Lottie Ruth Neale Chilliest.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Leroy Thompson, Summit, Oklahoma, children, Derrick (Cortney)King, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Barbara (Shelton)Hines, Tulsa, Oklahoma, his grandchildren, Tamia King, King Bray and Nova King, his brothers, Javan Thompson, St. Louis, Missouri and Mark Thompson, Summit, Oklahoma, his sisters, Rachel (Greg) Lee, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Angel Thompson, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Krystal Thompson, Summit, Oklahoma, Mary (A.D.)
