Obituary

It all began October 15, 1955, when a bouncing baby boy was born to Norris Miles and Phillis Mae Maxwell. He was named Maurice Maxwell. He was born and raised in Taft, Oklahoma, where he accepted his Lord and Savior into his life at an early age. He attended Taft public school system, graduating with the class of 1974.

Maurice was a very adventurous young man who loved life. He had a passion for riding and training horses, traveling, fixing cars, and playing cards and dominos. But most of all, he cherished spending time with family and friends.

Maurice was affectionately referred to by his close friends as "Cash" or "Goodie." He married Glenda (Webb) Anderson and their marriage produced two children.

After 66 years with us, Maurice decided to finish his journey because he was ready to see his Uncle Theodore, so he rode out into a peaceful slumber of eternal rest on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Remaining to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Glenda Maxwell; daughters, RaShawnda Maxwell and MaRhonda Evans; grandchildren, Skylar Maxwell, Marquell Maxwell, Isaiah Maxwell, Iyesha Maxwell, Annise Mcnac, and Amyah Drake; great-grandkids, Jermani Maxwell, Zariah Maxwell, Jelena Maxwell, and Ayden Mcnac, all from Muskogee, Oklahoma; sisters, Willie Mae Wallace of Haskell OK, Cecelia Maxwell of San Antonio, TX, and Wanda Simpson (Jimmy) of Broken Arrow, OK; sisters-in-law, Danetta Brown (Cedric), Brenda Buchanan, Dorothy Fennell, Ruby Anderson, and Vickie Reed (Alfred), all from Muskogee, OK; brothers-in law, James Hershey (Pat) of Washington, DC, and Bernard Smith of Broken Arrow OK; two aunties, Dollie Mae Melvelle of Mill Valley CA, and Ester Maxwell of Tulsa OK; a special cousin, Donna; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends from through the years.

A Memorial Ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM in The People's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Muskogee.
