Obituary

Mrs. Maxine Alexander, after "four-score and two years" has received her Crown of Righteousness as of Monday, March 12, 2012 from Muskogee.

She was born on Monday, December 9, 1929 in Bald Hill, Oklahoma, near Okmulgee from the union of Jessie James and Gladys [Perkins] Armstead. She attended school in the Morris, Oklahoma area and after reaching adulthood, was a homemaker, seamstress, the best cook ever and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Sister Maxine united in marriage to Moses Alexander on February 7, 1950 in Haskell, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with eleven children.

Maxine accepted Christ and was baptized as a young mother and wife under the leadership of Pastor Cleon Ratliff at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Porter, Oklahoma. Later, she joined Old Agency Baptist Church unter the leadership of Pastor Aundrea Jones, where she remained a member until her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Al in 1961, Fredrick in 1972 and Overton Earnest [O.E.] in 1986; a grandson, Ray Alexander, a sister, Joyce, and a brother, Carl.

Remaining to cherish her memory; her husband, Moses, Porter, Oklahoma; her sons, Moses Jr., Steve [Donetta], Muskogee, Oklahoma, Christopher [Chris] and Simon, Porter, Oklahoma; her daughters, Juanita [Clyde], Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Cherry and Cynthia [Jimmy], Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Arjane, Coweta, Oklahoma; a brother, Jackie Armstead; a sister, Ardie Mae Crawley, Denver, Colorado; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.

The Hour of Tribute will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Divine Love Fellowship Church. Pastor Michael Webber is the gracious host Pastor and Pastor Marlene Jones will bring Words of Comfort.

You may visit Mother Alexander, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
