IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Lyndell
Baker, Sr.
April 27, 1965 – July 1, 2023
Michael Lyndell Baker Sr. was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on April 27, 1965, to Ruby and Earl Baker, Sr. He was the youngest of their five children. The greatest accolade of his life was being a phenomenal father, an exceptional uncle, and a gentle and loving man.
At an early age, he was baptized at St. Thomas Primitive Baptist Church. As a faithful member and treasurer of St. Thomas, he was dedicated to the Lord. He attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1982.
In 1992, he married Lisa Hinson and this union welcomed his two children whom he adored, Michael Baker, Jr., and Tressea (Baker) Taylor.
At an early age, his father taught him to fish and hunt. His love for both would become a passion for him throughout his life. Michael would say, "When I'm out fishing, it's when I feel most at peace."
A man of many titles, being a father was his most cherished. He adored his children Michael Baker Jr., (Mookie) and Tressea Taylor, as he so affectionately called her, "Baby Girl". The love, support, and consistency that he constantly showered on them will forever be remembered, and cherished by his children. He was their hero which defines and testifies the love and care that he bestowed upon them. His love for them was their world. He was their world.
He also had a very special relationship with his niece, Ashley Baker and her three children. Recently, Michael was blessed to be a father to Ashley's children, his niece and nephews, Leilani, Tru, and Loyal McDaniel. His unwavering love and dedication to family compelled him to take them in and care for them.
He had a deep love for his grandchildren, Mahki, Malahki, Madalynn, and Makalynn. He strongly believed in making memories with them as well as with his children. He cherished Christmas time and enjoyed shopping for fireworks for them every 4th of July.
He was dedicated to serving the community of the developmentally challenged for nearly thirty years. The last five years, he worked with INCOR. While there, his impact was felt throughout the company. His spirit illuminated wherever he was, and he brought joy and his light to everyone he met. He would play practical jokes on his staff and even had a swear jar at work that made a pretty penny.
Michael's presence and grace will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was the definition of kindness and gentleness. He loved his children, his family, friends, and his work with the community.
Mr. Michael Baker Sr., in his 58th year of life, quietly transitioned to Eternal Rest on Sunday, July 1, 2023 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Sr. and Ruby Baker; sister, Donna Baker; nieces, Kaylynn Baker and Ashley Baker; and nephew, Anthony Baker.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory: children, Michael (G'anecia) Baker, Jr., Tressea (Markel) Taylor; grandchildren, Mahki, Malahki, Madalynn, and Makalynn; siblings, Reverend Earl (Barbara) Baker, Jr., David Baker, and Kathy Baker; special nieces and nephews, Tru, Loyal, Leilani, Donyail, Corey, Kiara, and Samantha; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, Kim Hodgens, and family; along with Donna Mealer and his INCOR family.
Michael has left a long-standing imprint on the hearts of all who loved him. He will be truly and immensely missed. The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again. May his precious soul rest in perfect and eternal peace.
