On July 30, 1954, a ray of sunshine entered the lives of Charles and Irene Cherry. He was the firstborn of four children born to this union.
Michael attended Wheatley Elementary School, Sadler Jr. High, and Muskogee High School. During his high school years Michael became an accomplished guitar player and played with several local bands.
Upon graduation from high school, Michael enlisted in the in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. After serving his country and returning home, Michael worked a number of jobs during his lifetime as a laborer, carpenter and cook.
Michael was well known in the community as he had an extraordinary gift to repair small engines with no formal training.
On June 23, 2018, Michael gently closed his eyes and departed this life here on earth. Michael was preceeded in death by his father Charles Cherry and his brother Mitchell Cherry, his grandparents and a host of aunts and uncles.
The love ones he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Krystal Clarke [Darrell], Melbourne, Florida; his sons Michael (Kesha); Myron; Stockton, California; his mother Irene Cherry; his sister Juanda Perkins (Stanley); Muskogee; brother Marcus Cherry (Meko); San Antonio, TX; Grandchildren: Nailah, Kenneth, Gabriel, Michael III, Michyus, Latavia, Taji 'Jae, Keron, Jessie.
Service of Memory for Mr. Cherry will be on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of the Rayfield Baptist Church. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be on Friday, only, beginning at 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM at the Rayfield Baptist Church.
