Michael's Story
On May 16, 1951, a bouncing baby boy was born to Ralph and Dixie Oliver in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He received Christ at an early age and attended church in Summit, Oklahoma. He graduated from The Historic Manual Training High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and attended Langston University, an Historically Black College in Langston, Oklahoma. Michael loved music and was a very gifted saxophone player. He earned the name Maceo, which was attributed to his manner and his style of music. Michael was a supervisor at Fort Howard Paper Mill in Muskogee, and was transferred to Savannah, Georgia to supervise and assist with opening of the Savannah River Georgia Pacific Paper Mill.
Mr. Oliver made his Final Transition on February 3, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two special grandparents, Alexander and Jessie Scott, father Ralph Lewis Oliver and granddaughter, Sidney Alexis, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: one daughter, Alexis Michaelle Williams (Derrick), son Michael Lewis Oliver, Jr., two stepchildren: Tamara Hargrove (Richard), and Cecil Piercy, III (Dana), grandchildren: Tiffany, Ashley, Brenten, Xavier, Malise, Alexia "Lexi," Derick, II "Billy," Corey, and Casey, and two great-grandsons: Alijah, and Aiden, siblings: Brenda Jefferson (Richard), Gregory Oliver, Timothy Oliver, all of Tulsa, OK., Donna Maselera, Oklahoma City, OK., and Tonya Clement, Memphis, TN., and many nieces, and nephews.
His Farewell Ceremony will commence on Thursday February 9, 2012 at 11:30AM inside our All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa. Friends may visit Mr. Oliver as he rests on Wednesday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
