IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mignon Mallay
Brooks
April 7, 1951 – January 9, 2022
Mignon Brooks arrived in Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 7, 1951, the daughter of Nathanial and Addie King, Sr. Mignon graduated from Historic Manual Training High School with the class of 1969.
It was a monumental day on January 12, 1973, when she married Claudie Brooks. Their marriage and love were blessed with five beautiful children: Nikya Givens, Dathan Brooks, Carnelle Brooks, Aquina Ellis, and Lakindra Brooks.
Mrs. Brooks worked for over 15 years for the Muskogee Public School System as a paraprofessional. She also worked with clients in the privacy of their homes.
Mignon enjoyed gardening, carpentry, cooking, cleaning, laughing, and dancing. She loved spending time with her loved ones. She would help those in need, even giving her last. She was a devoted mother and wife. You couldn't leave her presence without her telling you to "say your prayers."
Mignon Mallay Brooks closed her eyes for eternal slumber on Sunday morning January 9, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, Nathanial and Addie King, Sr.; brothers, Nathanial King, Jr., and Ishmael King; and sisters, King Zella King and Rodslen Brown-King.
Mrs. Brooks leaves to cherish her legacy: her children, Nikya Givens of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Dathan (Wanda) Brooks of Argyle, Texas, Carnelle Brooks of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Aquina (Darnell) Ellis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lakindra Brooks of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her siblings, Nadine Cope of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Edward (Gladys) King of Los Angeles, California, Tony (Eliza) King of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Rena Logan of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Vanessa (Robert) Johnson of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Shenia (William) Gunn of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Zenobia (Thomas) Howard of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Natasha (Kevin) Firth of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Brian Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her loving memory.
