Obituary

It all began in Holdenville, Oklahoma, when Lonnie and Nellie Dean welcomed a beautiful, baby daughter into their family on February 24, 1922.  They named her Mildred Hartense.
Sister Mildred grew up and attended school in the Lone Tree Community, east of Morris, Oklahoma.  After reaching adulthood, She provided for her family through her labor as a Domestic Technician for private homes in the area.
Ms. Kennedy loved spending time talking with her family and friends.  She really loved all types of flowers, which was evident by her flower beds and garden. She spent hours weeding and tending to them.  Sister Mildred loved gardening and had a vegetable garden in her backyard.  She especially loved fishing and would spend hours sitting on the bank of a pond somewhere, even if she didn't catch anything.
Her time with us on earth came to a close on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Nellie Dean and her husband, Joseph Kennedy.
Ms. Kennedy leaves in God's care;  her children, Wade Kennedy, Sr., [ Edna] and Jorene Kennedy;  her grandchildren, Wade Kennedy, Jr., LaShawna Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy and Tai-Asia Kennedy;  Seven great-grandchildren; her long-time companion, Charles Woodruff; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The final farewell will be on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Peace at the funeral home in Okmulgee.  Reverend Eli Behn, Sr., will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Northwest Cemetery.

You may visit Mrs. Kennedy on Friday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
