Milton James McBrier, 88 of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday
September 24, 2015.
Milton was born on September 20, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Elijah McBrier and Ethel Haywood McBrier.
Milton was raised in Muskogee and accepted the Lord Jesus at early age, baptized and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He attended Muskogee Public Schools, graduating from Manual Training High School in 1946. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after twenty years of service. His time in the military took him to many countries including England, Spain, Germany and Greece. Upon his retirement he chose to return home to Muskogee to be close to his family.
Milton had a love for music, playing the clarinet and a fondness for jazz. He enjoyed photography, collecting many types of cameras and was a fan of old western movies. He was a devoted and loving brother to his only sibling Dorothy and over the years he took on the role of watching over his nieces and nephews, and for some he was a father figure. A very caring and humorous person, he will be missed so much by his family and friends.
Milton is preceded in death by his parents Elijah McBrier and Ethel Haywood McBrier and his sister Dorothy Mae Wooden. He is lovingly survived by his cousin Leroy Anderson, Jr. and his step-sister Ella Thomas; nephews Anthony K. Wooden (Jacqueline) of Muskogee, Milton J. Wooden (Carolyn) of Aurora, Colorado, niece Linda Cooke (Gregory) of Clermont , Florida. Great-nieces and nephews Gregory Cooke, Jr, Kenny Perkins, Naquiya Clarke, Xavier Wooden, Ashton Wooden, Max Cooke, Christopher Cooke, Ashley Wooden, Elijah Wooden and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. McBrier will be on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the New Life Ministries, Taft, Oklahoma. Pastor Michael Gaulden will officiate and Reverend Anthony Wooden will render the Eulogy.
Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.
