Obituary

Mitchell Cherry was born October 11, 1959 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Charles and Irene Cherry.  Mitchell was the third child of four children.
Mitchell accepted Jesus Christ and united with First Lutheran Church and was an active member.

Mitchell suffered a traumatic brain injury, leaving him developmentally disabled. Mitchell attended Muskogee Public Schools but he never allowed his disability to define his life.  His parents later allowed him to become involved with the program SWAP (INCOR), where he participated in the Special Olympics in track & field, camping and bowling.

Mitchell had an exceptional green thumb, as he loved to work in his vegetable garden. He loved being outside with his ear buds on listening to some B.B King or Bobby Blue Bland playing his air guitar. Mitchell was an avid OU fan win or lose - he was the ultimate Boomer Sooner. He collected a wide range of model cars and movies. His bedroom looked like an old Block Buster showroom.

Mitchell was a kind person and had a big heart. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, as they all seemed to gravitate towards his loving smile and playful laughter.   During the course of his illness, Mitchell received over 150 get well cards from people all over the world, thanks to social media.
Mitchell held various jobs during his lifetime. His most tenured job was  at Taco Bueno, starting in 2002. Mitchell had an excellent work ethic and refused to take vacations, as he loved his job; even while being sick, he was concerned about missing days of work. Mitchell remained loyal to his friends and coworkers until his health failed.

Mitchell departed his earthly life on Thursday November 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Cherry.

He leaves to cherish his Memory; his Mother Irene Cherry; his brothers, Michael Cherry, Muskogee and Marcus (Meko) Cherry, San Antonio Texas;  One Sister, Juanda (Stanley) Perkins, Muskogee, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and other relatives and friends.

I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH.
