On April 17, 1944 in Magnolia, Arkansas, a bundle of joy was delivered to the parents of Elijah Gilbert and Delia Moore Jamerson. They named their baby boy Moses E. Gilbert. He was raised by his grandmother, Nannie Gilbert. His parents, a brother, James Carey, a step-daddy, Osie Lee (Buddy) Jamerson all preceded him in death.
He graduated from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Arkansas. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He established his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later moved to California, St. Louis, Houston and Dallas, Texas.
Some of Moses employers were American Airlines, and TWA, then later furthered his career in Truck Driving School in California where he achieved his CDL license. He worked for Tyson Chicken for many years where he received the Safest Driver Award. Moses then went to drive for his son, Moses E. Gilbert, Jr.'s business OTR Transport Solutions, LLC, in Duncanville, Texas until his health failed him.
Moses sang with the Tottress Brothers at an early age. Some of the things he loved were Tennessee Walker horses, listening to old school gospel music, and watching western shows. He always loved to give you something whenever you came to visit. Moses always had a smile anytime you saw him. He loved his cigars and sweets.
On Friday, September 26, 2014, he was called home to his final resting place. Moses leaves not only wonderful memories of legacy of strength and determination to his children Jametta Williams Tiger (Anthony), Marcus Gilbert (Jullian), Moses Gilbert Jr., (Christine), Andrea Lowe (Kelley), Chablis Gilbert all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Catrena Gilbert, Duncanville, Texas, Jacob Gilbert (Amanda), Elijah Bray, Emily Bray (Everado) all of Houston, Texas.
