Obituary

On January 31, 1952, a precious jewel was born to the union of Willard Pierce and Eddie Mae Mathis Pierce. Willie Mae Pierce grew up in Okmulgee and attended Dunbar High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She accepted Christ in her life at the age of 16.

She later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met and married Frank Young Colley. To this union, three children were born: Cynthia, Alice and Frank, Jr. This marriage later dissolved. Willie Mae moved back to Oklahoma with her family, and it was there she married Mr. Jesse Joyner on September 12, 1981, and the loving couple got their home in October of that same year.

In 1986, Evangelist Joyner told Mother Joyner that God had called him to Pastor. She responded that he should obey God, and allowed him to move all of her furniture out of the living room. It was there that they started their church in the home and named it New Hope Temple. Their first "new" location for a church was on 15th street for 8 years, and later moved to 11th and Memorial. They then began traveling doing evangelist work.

Later, in 2005, Mrs. Joyner started a business dear to her heart, as she enjoyed cooking, and family gatherings. Joyner's Soul Food Restaurant was opened and remained open for six years. Many souls were nourished and blessed by Mother Joyner and this establishment.

On Wednesday Evening August 24, 2011, Mrs. Willie Mae Joyner "left with Angels, to thine place of rest" from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiliard and Eddie Mae Pierce, one sister, Lessie Mae Joyner, and brother Rodney Thompson, one granddaughter, and one grandson, one son in-law, and two nephews.
