On July 22, 1942, Nelson Taylor was born to the union of Bennie Taylor and Viola (Winston) Taylor in Okmulgee, OK. He was the youngest sibling of his family.
He attended Elementary School at Rosenwall, then left for Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from there.
He eventually went on to serve his country and was honorably discharged. While he served in the United States Army, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Nelson continued on in his career working for Southwestern Bell, but finally, he ventured into the truck driving industry where he worked for many years.
Nelson was the father of six boys. He met Patricia Ann (Hale) Taylor in 1970, and they had three boys.

Nelson was a deacon in the church. He was a loving man who was a hard worker, and he was strong and straightforward. Everyone that knew Nelson knew he meant what he said, and he would help anyone who would help themselves. He deeply cared for his family.
Mr. Nelson Taylor, in his 79th year transitioned to Eternal Rest on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Nelson was preceded in death by: his parents, Bennie Taylor and Viola (Winston) Taylor, two sons, five brothers, and five sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his four sons, Eric Bostic, Sr., Elic Bostic, Ajan Taylor, and Elijah Taylor; two sisters, Mary Shuford-Carter (Taylor) of Henryetta, OK, and Edna Brown (Taylor) of Wichita, KS; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Final Salute for Mr. Taylor will commence on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10:00AM in in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc.-Okmulgee.
The Christian Committal will immediately follow the services in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Military Honors.
You may visit him as he slumbers in peaceful repose on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM in The Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc.-Okmulgee.
