Mrs. Norma Helen Pierce, in her 71st year, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from a Tulsa hospital.
Norma Helen (Motte) Pierce was born June 1, 1947 to John Everette and Ada Motte in Okmulgee Oklahoma. She attended Dunbar Public Schools, where her friends affectionately referred to her as "Motte", graduating with the class of 1966. Upon graduating, she married her longtime best friend, James Pierce, to whom she shared an amazing marriage with for 52 years at the time of death. The couple shared love for their two children, Judy and Carlton, and their only grandchild, Brenna, a special adopted son Clifton Poole, three adopted granddaughters, Quinta Stewart Willis, Hayley Tuggle, Scherryl Coulter, and many others who grew fond of her, only knowing and calling her their "Granny" too .
Norma's working career span began at Ball Brothers and continued at OSU Technical School from which she retired. Norma attended Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church and was an active member with the Alfaretta R Aubry Court No 55 Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Peter Claver. Norma served as Eucharistic minister, as well as served on the parish council acting as the president for many years.
Norma was best known for her way around a kitchen and hard work (can't you just smell the gumbo). Her smile and laugh was contagious and recognized by many. Until her death, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gaming centers and in most recent pastime, teaching herself how to play games on the internet, especially backgammon, which allowed her to make special connections with people all around the world.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Ada; brother, Mark Motte, numerous aunts, uncles, family and friends.
She is survived by her husband James (of the home), her daughter, Judith Motte Johnson (James) and her son, Carlton, both of Okmulgee OK, granddaughter, Brenna Pierce of Oklahoma City Oklahoma, her sister Delores Bennett (Clarence) of San Francisco CA, three sisters n law, four brothers n law, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and friends
A Memorial Ceremony celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church. Father Joshua E. Litwack will officiate.
