"My Story"
I came into the world January 13, 1940 to Bessie and Rev. Casmere Thomas. I was not only a precious gift but very special to them. I was welcome by my siblings, Velma and Doris; Frances followed me. I joined True Vine Baptist Church at an early age in Nuyaka, Oklahoma. We were expected to be baptized and work in the church and I did just that. I attended Sunday School, vacation bible school, and sang in the group. We did not have a choir, but a group. I grew up and flourished under the watchful eye of a caring neighborhood in Nuyaka, where I attended Willow Grove Elementary, Rosenwald High School and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, I attended business school at Oklahoma State University Tech.
On June 1, 1959, I married Willie Robinson, JR. We were blessed with 3 wonderful children, Bonita, Delman, & Tracy, along with a grandson we raised as our child, Ricky Robinson. I knew I had to continue my Christian journey; therefore I united with the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T.O. Chappelle, Sr. in 1962. In 1994 I united with the Church of the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Humphrey, where I served on the usher board, mission society, and the choir until my health began to fail.
My husband Willie, my son Delman, as well as my sister Bessie and brotherly cousin Burdette also preceded me in death. I leave memories of my earthly life with loving daughter Bonita Thompson (Ronald), and son Tracy Robinson, a grandson Ricky Robinson, sisters: Velma Nichols, Phoenxi, AZ., Doris Todd (aka my twin sister) Los Angeles, CA., and Frances Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK., 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, and nephews. I thank my sisters for all the support given me during my illness. Special thanks to my niece Patricia Debose, and my grandson Delman Robinson II for the special care given to me during my illness. Now, family and friends, please don't cry; I'm at rest in the arms of Jesus. With all my love, good night.
Services for Mrs. Robinson will be Thursday December 11, 2008 at 10AM at Church of the Gospel of Jesus Christ located at 5820 E. Haskell Place near Interstate 244 and Sheridan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10AM to 7PM.
