Obituary

Mr. Norrell Clark Smith, A Veteran of the United States Navy, and Retired Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service passed away Tuesday Morning, November 11, 2008 in Tulsa. Services will be Wednesday November 19, 2008 at 10AM inside the All Faiths Chapel.

On March 1, 1930 in a small community called Gatesville, Oklahoma just south of Red Bird, a bundle of joy was delivered to Rev. Norwood and Carrie Mae Smith. Their bundle of joy was a bouncing baby boy. They named him Norrell Clark. He was the youngest of 3 children. "N.C" or "Smitty" as he was fondly referred to was baptized at an early age and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Red Bird, Oklahoma. After graduating from Miller Washington High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He married the love of his life, Esther Fay Ingram, who traveled with him most of his military career. He retired after 30 years of service and attaining the rank of Senior Chief. He later was employed as Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 15 years of dedicated work.

His parents and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 46 years, Esther Smith, three children: Darlene (Carl) Jones, Okmulgee, OK., David (Kathy) Smith, Port Orchard, WA., Lisa (David) Swann, Phoenix, AZ.; one brother, Sherrell E. Smith, Kansas City, MO., three grandchildren: Shelly Crocker, Michael Jones, and Carlen Jones, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, three sister in-laws: Willie Jean Cullom, Muskogee, OK., Billie Moses, Wichita, KS., and Vesta Finch, Tulsa, OK., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
