Obituary

Mr. Odell Knapper, Jr., in his 70th year, has transitioned from life to everlasting, from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

He was one of six children, arriving in Muskogee, Oklahoma on May 24, 1940 from the union of the late Odell Knapper, Sr., and Metherine Spencer. Odell Jr. was riased in Muskogee and attended Muskogee Public Schools.

Odell married at an early age. The marriage was brief, however, he was blessed with a daughter, LaRhonda Knapper.

In 1961, Odell enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his Country honorably prior to his discharge in 1965.

After his service time, he moved to Minnapolis, Minnesota, where he remarried. This union produced two sons, Odell Knapper, III and Danny Knapper. While in Minnesota, he worked various construction jobs for the city. He decided to relocate to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he gained employment at Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

In his spare time, Odell loved to spend time with his brothers, family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, being the life of the party and hanging with his "cut" buddies.

He was preceded in death by his father, Odell Knapper, Sr., his step-father, Robert M. Smith, his mother, Metherine Smith, a sister, Margaret Richardson and two brothers, Otis L. Knapper and James E. Knapper.

He leaves to lament his death; three sons, Odell Knapper, III and Danny Knapper, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Corey Knapper, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a daughter, LaRhonda Knapper, Muskogee, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild;a brother, Bobby Lee Smith, Richmond, Virginia; a sister, Parthenia A. [Smith] Foster, Goochland, Virginia; three uncles, Cephus Spencer, San Antonio, Texas, Otis Spencer and Leon Spencer, Minneapolis, Minnesota; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Hour of Tribute to Mr. Knapper will commence on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of the Divine Love Fellowship Church, Pastor Michael Webber, the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Vanzelen Brown, Pastor of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, Officiating.

You may visit Mr. Knapper, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Friday from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
