Obituary

In Gibsland, Louisiana, John and Nettie Thompson celebrated the birth of their 9th of 10 children on July 29, 1937. They named her Olive Marie.

Olive attended elementary school and Charles Brown High School in Cullen, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she met a handsome gentleman, Dock B. Williams. They fell in love and were married. Their love produced eight children; Veyondtra, Artraillia, Dock II, Regina, Phenetre, Vincent, Daniel and Marcus.

With the help of friends and family, Olive raised her children in a Christian environment. During this time, she volunteered in the children's classrooms for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Calvary Day Care and directed the Children's Choir, as well as the pianist at many churches. She was always willing to lend her voice to any choir that would ask her to sing. She worked for many years as a nurse aid and an educator.

Olive was a generous spirit, a listener and a talker, anxious to help in any situation, whether asked or not. Her laughter was genuine, big and infectious. She loved people and could find something to talk about, even with a stranger. Always ready for a new adventure, she didn't stay in one place too long so that she could meet a lot of people. She touched a lot of lives.

Mother Williams was a trooper-a brave soldier. She had a good life, fought a tremendous fight. No more darkness for Olive; finally peace. She is done with the troubles of this world and has laid her burdens down.

The greatest referrence and my introduction to the Word of GOD came
from my Mother. As far back as I can remember, Mother taught us the Word of
GOD. We had Bible study after church on Sundays as well as during the
week. Anyone who spent time in her Sunday School Class will verify
that she made the Word of GOD so plain, so vivid that you would think you
were right there when the events happened. I believe that GOD must have shared at least some of his plan for her children with her.

Thank you Mother, it is because of you we will see JESUS too.

She transitioned to eternity on Friday, May 4, 2007 from Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Olive will be remembered, missed and celebrated by her loving children; her sons-in-law, John Flynn and Kenny Hartwig; her daughters-in-law, Lisa, Felicia and Becky; her grandchildren, Michael, Raytosha & husband, Jason, keisha, Destiny, Aaron, Dock, III & wife Melanie, Karmen, Brian, DrewAnna, Jack, Precious, Chintanya, Ricca, Rachel and Dejon; her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Mycah, A'Janee and Amari; her siblings, Ray Thompson, Ardelia Grant and Rosie Green; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The Tribute will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma. Dr. Maurice M. Williams, Pastor, will Preside.
