Obituary

Mr. Oliver Wallace, Sr., dozed into eternity on December 28, 2005 from the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Better known as "Chico" to family and friends, Mr. Wallace was a devoted Husband and Father. he was born in Redland, Oklahoma on December 22, 1917, the son of Frank and Girthina [Bills] Wallace.

He attended the Redland School system and later relocated to Yahola, Oklahoma with his family before settling in Taft, Oklahoma.

He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country honorably from July 28, 1942 until November 24, 1945 during World War II.

He also was quite the athlete. He played in a small baseball league, where he played his favorite position of pitcher. He was known for being a great player.

Later in life, he spent a while in Kansas City, Kansas, where he labored as a Construction Supervisor for West Side Construction Company. He retired in 1986 after 35 years of service.

After his retirement, he returned to Taft, Oklahoma, where he has remained until his sunset hour.

Mr. Wallace was a faithful member of the Saint Paul Baptist Church, Taft, Oklahoma, serving the Lord faithfully with the Brotherhood and in any capacity where he was needed until his health failed.

He leaves in God's care; his wife, Ida B. Wallace, of the home in Taft; six children; five step-children; fifty-three grandchildren; and a caravan of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The final tribute to Mr. Wallace will be on Friday, January 6, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. in the New Life Ministries, 202 Main Street in Taft. Pastor Michael Gaulden is the gracious host and Reverend Anthony Wooden, Pastor of Saint Paul Baptist Church, the Officiant.

The Christian committal will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with Military Honors.
