Obituary

O'Neil Brown was born from the union of Arbie Brown and Joanna Wilson in Paraloma, Arkansas on July 3, 1946. He was the oldest sibling of six sisters and three brothers.

O'Neil accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was educated in Paraloma, Arkansas schools, graduating high school in 1964. He then enlisted in the United States Army, quickly moving up the ranks to Sargent. He was stationed in Germany, where he learned to speak German language fluently. He served his country from May 29, 1965 until his honorable discharge on July 31, 1970.

O'Neil loved blues, old school music, could make some good BBQ and was known for his biscuits. He loved sports and was close to becoming a professional basketball player. He was also a big Washington Redskins fan.

O'Neil relocated to Washington, DC in the 1970's and returned to Arkansas in 2014 before moving to Oklahoma recently.

In his 71st year of life, O'Neil Brown transitioned from time to eternity on Friday, June 15, 2018 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved step-mother, Betty Brown; his dear son, Timothy O'Neil [Mercy] Langley, Fort Washington, Maryland; his sisters, Nancy Jackson, Tony Simpson [Alfred], Dorothy Wright, and Virginia Piercy, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; his brother, Robert Brown, Killeen, Texas;   two grandchildren whom he loved, Syreeta and Tamara, Fort Washington, Maryland; a very dear friend, LaVerne Westry, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.


A graveside ceremony will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Blood Bought Church of God in Christ, 1102 North 3rd Street.  The funeral cortege will assemble at the Church at 10:30 AM to proceed to the cemetery.

Military Honors will be rendered at the Cemetery.
