On September 22, 1930, a baby girl was born to Pinkie and John Lottie Anders in Idabel, Oklahoma. They named her Opal Lee.
Opal received her formal education in Idabel, Oklahoma and Summit, Oklahoma. Later in life, she met and married James Charles McDaniel on June 6, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri and they remained married 55 years.
She and Reverend James McDaniel moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1950 and in 1953, they became members of Old Agency Baptist Church, under Reverend J. L. Potter.
Opal was a homemaker and was the 1st Lady of Blackjack Baptist Church for 4 years and 1st Lady of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 30 years. She united with Rayfield Baptist Church under Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., and remained at Rayfieild until going to be with the Lord.
On Wednesday, December 25, 2025, Opal Lee McDaniel fell asleep on this side, but woke up in Heaven to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Waiting to meet her at Heaven's gate; her husband, Reverend James Charles McDaniel; her siblings, Jewel Anders [Grace], Chester McClain, , Fred McClain [Verma], John Anders, Jr., Johnnie Mae Butler, Merlee Nero [Willie], Elena Andes; and a great-grandson, Nico De'Quan Duke.
She leaves in God's care; her daughter, Shirley Ann Crawford, of the home in Muskogee; three grandchildren, Latrece and Larysa Crawford, of Tulsa and Larry Crawford, Muskogee; five great-grandchildren, Allen Jarod Branch, Tulsa, Ni'Quel Duke, Plano, Texas, Jaiveon Kirby, Broken Arrow, Anaiah Crawford, Okay, Oklahoma, Clinton Newton, Jr., Tulsa; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Long and Fallyn Richardson, Plano, Texas;
You may visit Ms. McDaniel, as she slumbers in peaceful repose in the People's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., on Thursday morning, beginning at 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
The funeral procession to Booker T. Washington Cemetery will depart from the funeral home at 1:45 PM, and family and friends are welcome to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 PM.
The Casket will not be opened at the cemetery.
