Ophelia C. Hamilton was born to William B. and Ora Lee Curtis. She was the 4th of 9 children born in this family. She attended L'Overture High School until the 12th grade and moved to Chicago, Illinois before returning to live in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Ophelia married Herbert McIntosh, Sr., and from this union, two boys were born. Later in life, she married Tilmon Hamilton and they had one son born from their union.
Ophelia was baptized at an early age by Reverend Green, Pastor of East Star Baptist Church. She joined Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, where she served the Lord faithfully in the culinary department for may years. She helped prepare meals for feed the people program, and if her car would break down, she would walk to Mt. Triumph to continue doing her job feeding the people. Later, she served on the Usher board for many years, until her health failed. She was always willing to step up and work in someone else's place if they couldn't be there to usher.
Ophelia loved to help people whether it was cleaning their house when they were sick or relieving a family member at the hospital to sit with their loved one. You could always expect Turkey and Dressing or a pot of Greens to give to families in their time of sorrow. She had a kind heart for people and was always there during their need.
Her employment was with Holiday Inn. She also worked at McAlester Regional Hospital for numerous years.
Ophelia was preceded in death by her parents, W. B and Ora Lee Curtis, her two sons, Herbert McIntosh, Jr., and Darryl Lynn Hamilton, five brothers, Rufus, Theodore, Alfonzo, Robert and Billy Joe Curtis.
