On April 18, 1928 in Pierce, Oklahoma, a bouncing bundle of joy was delivered to Floyd and Earsie Perkins. It was a baby girl named Ora Lee LuVada. "Vada" as she was affectionately referred to grew up just outside of Checotah in the Warrior Community. She lived a very active life attending school and church. Following her high school graduation she moved to Tulsa where she met and married John H. Hawkins. Their union produced 3 loving sons. She was active in there education, allowing them to play football and was a "Den Mother" for their Boy Scouts. She joined St. Andrew Baptist Church for a short period before moving her membership to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.E. Holly. She remained a member there until her health began to fail, witnessing the installment of Rev. James Brewer as Pastor. On Thursday Morning, November 20, 2008 she boarded the Morning Train, bound for that place we call "Glory" to join her parents, sister, and other relatives. She leaves behind to cherish a lifetime of memories; her three sons: Floyd, Tim, and Robert, all of Tulsa, OK., one aunt, Bertha Adams, Tulsa, OK., grandchildren, nieces, cousins, friends, and other relatives who did not say goodbye...just "see ya later!"
Services will be Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 10AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
