On December 1, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl was born to James and Ellen Jackson. They named their bundle of joy, Othella. She was the 4th of 6 children born to this union. Othella attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated with the class of 1942. She met her husband, Paul Dennis in 1955 and remained in this union until his death in November of 2003.

During her younger years while living in the Chicago area, she was employed with the United States Postal Service. Upon her return to Tulsa, she was admired by all of her employers. However, her most enjoyable employment was at Ross Manufacturing where she loved the art of producing unique artistic displays. Mrs. Dennis will always be remembered for being the life of the party. Both she and Paul loved blues and jazz artists of their generation. Othella loved to dance and entertain with her family and friends. She was full of laughter, especially when jitterbugging as it was her favorite.

Othella was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Paul of 48 years, two brothers, Chester Jackson, SR.., and James Jackson, JR., one sister, Marcella Downs, and one grandson, Darin Frazier. Remaining to cherish her precious memories are: two daughters: Burma and Daniel Johnson, Denver, CO., and Sharon Jackson, one sister, Barbara Berry, one brother, Lynn and Charlotte Jackson, grandchildren: Dina Horn, Charles Jackson, Rochelle Frazier, Chris Jackson, Duan and Cara Johnson, and Dalenia Johnson, both of Denver, CO., 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Othella shared many special moments with 2 special nieces, Phyllis Jackson, and Ellen Berry.

On her 83rd birthday, Othella Marie Dennis surrendered her soul to her Father in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her services will be Saturday December 8, 2007 at 11AM inside the All Faiths Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 10AM to 7PM.
