It was in Texarkana, Arkansas, where Dossie and Rosie [Hawkins] celebrated the birth of a son, on October 25, 1954. They named him Otis O'Neal.
Otis grew up and attended school in Okmulgee, ultimately at Historic Dunbar and Okmulgee High School, graduating with the Class of 1973.
Otis worked during his lifetime as a Carpenter. There was little that he couldn't do with his hands. He enjoyed fishing and was the Maintenance Supervisor for Country Lane Nursing Home before his transplant. Otis was a caring, loving man who loved his family and would do anything for them.
Deacon O'Neal accepted Christ into his life at an early age and re-dedicated his life to the Lord in 2003. He grew as a Christian Man and was ordained as a Deacon in 2005 at New Salem Baptist Church. He also served the Lord as President of the Brotherhood. He loved his church and his church family.
Otis was a big influence in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He helped raise Juanita, Tracy, Eugene and Isaac Grissom, Marcel and Charles Lang and Wendy Clark. One of his special joys in life was taking care of Uriah, who he could be seen with practically all of the time, all over town. He always spoke of the special bond they shared, raising him from a very young age. They were always running around together.
It was in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on May 2, 2016, where Otis O'Neal, after 61 years on Earth, "dozed into the peaceful rest of Eternal slumber" with his loving wife and family near his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, a sister, Mary Hammon and a brother, George Dansby.
