On February 9, 1955, a precious bundle of joy was delivered to Robert and Lucille Jones Smith. Their bundle of joy was a bouncing baby girl they named Patricia Elizabeth Smith. She attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from the historic Booker T. Washington High School with the class of 1972. After graduation, Patricia briefly attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma.
"Pat" was baptized at an early age at Vernon African Episcopal Church under the leadership of the late Ben Hill. She remained a loyal and active member under the leadership of Rev. Michelle K.T. Moulden. Having joined Vernon AME Church in 1958, Pat gave her life to Christ and to the work of the church. Over the years, she served as a Trustee. At the time of her death, Patricia was a member of the Steward Board where she served as Board Assistant Secretary and Pastors Steward. She served as a member of the Class Leaders Council, where she served as Council President. Patricia also served as 1st President of the Women's Missionary Society, Treasurer of the Choir, and was a member of the Women's Church School Class. In addition, Patricia Smith served as 1st Vice President of the Central Northeast Oklahoma Conference Lay Organization and Worship Director of the Central Northeast Oklahoma Conference Women's Missionary Society. She was excited to have been elected by the Central Northeast Oklahoma Conference to the 17th WMS Quadrennial Convention in Orlando July 26-31, 2011. She was also a Disaster Training Specialist for the Red Cross, and worked for seven years at Enterprise Holdings as a License and Title Specialist, becoming close friends with all of her co-workers.
On May 18, 2011, Patricia went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her father and sister. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her chidren: Shameisha Myles (Eric), Broken Arrow, OK., Jawan Smith (Latoya), Oklahoma City, OK., her grandchildren: Jaila Smith, Nicolas Myles, Jawan Smith, Jr., and Christopher Myles, her mother, Lucille Smith, Tulsa, OK., sister, Anna Stone (Gary), aunt, Maenon Littlejohn, Tulsa, OK., uncles: Lester Jones, Tulsa, OK., Rufus Jones, Oklahoma City, OK., and a very dear friend, Jesse Greene, Mt. Pleasant, TX., along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her memorial services will be Saturday May 28, 2011 at Vernon AME Church in Tulsa at 11AM.
