Obituary

Ms. Pearl Turner, in her 98th season of life, "Made it Over" on Monday morning, March 25, 2019 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

She was born July 25, 1920 in Boynton, Oklahoma. Pearl was the third child of Hugh and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Evans. She grew up in Beggs, Oklahoma and attended school at Oakdale and church at Oakdale Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Lee Massey.

On November 6, 1944, she was united in matrimony to Albert Turner.  Albert "Sport" and Pearl resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma after marriage. They first resided on Iroquis Street and later moved to Greenwood Street for many years in the historic Greenwood District. Albert preceded her in 1979 and to this union, no children were born.

After moving to Tulsa, she united with The Church of the Living God on North Hartford under the leadership of Bishop C.A. Lewis, Pastor. She worked tirelessly in the Women's Work department and in every aspect of the kitchen. Everyone loved her 'Strawberry Cake' and she baked them for many. Pearl was stoic, dependable, and a pillar to her family as well as her church family. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Brothers, Felix, Walter, and Leo, and her Sisters, Virginia, Katherine, Hazel, and Doretha.

Pearl leaves to mourn her only sibling, Wilma Perry of Beggs, Oklahoma;  and a host of other relatives and friends.

Her Sacred Farewell will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church-South.  Sister Princella Combs will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens in Tulsa.

You may visit Ms. Turner, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Okmulgee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6 PM.
