Percival Cooksey Burr was born to Richard and Mary Frances Burr in Wagoner County, Oklahoma on April 5, 1920. At an early age, the family moved to Claremore, Oklahoma. After a few years, the family then settled in Muskogee, Oklahoma.


Percival attended Dunbar Elementary School and Manual Training High School. In 1942, during his senior year of high school, he was drafted into the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Percival was united in marriage to Alto Jones and from this union, two sons were born. This union was later dissolved.


Pervical accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. "PC" as he was affectionately referred to by all his nieces, nephews and friends, always made a joke about something and made them all laugh.


Mr. Burr kept the faith, and finished his course on the afternoon of Sunday, December 28, 2008 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He answered the "Heavenly Roll Call." Percival was preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and 2 sisters.


He leaves to cherish his memory; two sons, P. C. Burr Rowland, Jr., and Doyle [Carsetta] Rowland, all of Muskogee, OKlahoma; a sister, Bernice Burr Smith, Arlington, Texas; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The final salute will be on Friday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. B. W. Noble, Pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be on Monday, January 5, 2008 at 12 Noon in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
