Ms. Rachel V. Washington, after 63 seasons of life, made her transition to "Everlasting" on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
On January 13, 1952, a little girl was born to Ozie Noble Cooper and Opal Rose Noble Cooper in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The couple named the youngest of four children Velma Rachel.
Preferring to be called, Rachel, she attended school in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1971 and was a student at Dunbar High School until 1969. She met and married Joseph Washington in 1970 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The couple was later blessed with 2 children: Valerie Washington and Joseph Washington, II.
Her parents and grandparents Mary A. Rose, Ivory Cooper and William Noble preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: her brother Ozie Noble, Jr., Spring, TX, her sisters: Barbara Noble Cohen, Patricia Mason, and Marilyn (Phe) Dixon, Okmulgee, OK, grandchildren: Treasure Littlejohn, Jordan Cazenave, Tre Pizana, Daja Pizana, Joseph Washington, III, and Brooklyn Washington, four nieces: Toynita Hoggans, Angela Hoggans, Okmulgee, OK, Kadijah Baker, Oklahoma City, OK, and Charlotte Mason, Okmulgee, OK, seven nephews: Chase Mason, Voreese Hoggans, Okmulgee, OK, James Baker, Denver, CO, Darren Baker, Denver, CO, DeJuan McNeil, Ozie Noble, Jr., Los Angeles, CA, and Devonte Baker, Oklahoma City, OK. Along with a host of first cousins who grew up together within one household.
Memorial Services will be Saturday July 18, 2015 at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
