Obituary

Raymond Milton Nash was born March 16, 1931 in Beggs, Oklahoma to the late Elijah Nash, Sr. and Odessa Thomas Nash. He was the first born of ten children. Mr. Nash graduated from L'overture High School in Slick, Oklahoma. He then matriculated to the Historic Langston University in Langston, OK., where he received his Bachelor's Degree, and then on the Oklahoma City University receiving his Master's. He would also attend Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Illinois to study in Foreign Studies.

Raymond accepted Christ at an early age and preached his first Sermon at the age of 16. He would go on to help build and preach at many churches across the United States and was a missionary in the Republic of Panama, Canal Zone in which he was held hostage in Panama for 12 days. Because of his love for God, he continued his Missionary work in several states and countries. He would eventually become a member of the Church of Christ and worked with various congregations. After moving to Tulsa, he joined the North Sheridan Road Church of Christ where he was faithful until his homegoing.

He married Louise Smith Nash, who preceded him in death, and together, they raised many foster sons. He later married Azzie Winn Nash, whom he leaves behind to cherish his precious memory. Also cherishing a lifetime with Mr. Nash; two sons: David Nash, Los Angeles, CA., Alexander Payne, Dallas, TX., two brothers: Elijah (Lubertha) Nash, JR., Beggs, OK., Leon (Bessie) Nash, Oklahoma City, OK., five sisters: Olivia Houston, Rosa Hodge, Mary Johnson, Erana House, and Maxine (Kenneth) Washington, all of Oklahoma City; one stepsister: Charlotte (LaVirgast) Chatman, Oklahoma City, and a host of other relatives and friends.

After a brief illness early Sunday morning on January 11, 2009 at 05:47 A.M. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Raymond departed this life peacefully while he was surrounded by his loving and supportive family.

The Tribute will be on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the North Sheridan Road Church of Christ. The Christian committal will be in the Tuskegee Cemetery, west of Beggs, at Edna, Oklahoma.
